What the Tutor Rate Calculator does
Tutors are paid for session time, but each session also needs preparation, travel or setup, and sometimes platform fees. Working back from the income you want across realistic weekly sessions gives the rate per session hour that actually meets your goal.
Formula
- Rate = (income + expenses) ÷ session hours ÷ (1 − platform fee)
- Work hours = session hours × (1 + prep share) + travel time
