About this tool
A letterhead is mostly empty on purpose
The job is to identify the sender and then get out of the way. A header that takes a third of the page leaves no room for a letter, and a letter that has to start halfway down looks like an afterthought. The proportions here keep the header to roughly the top fifth and the footer to a single line, which is what most professionally produced letterheads do.
Using it in Word or Google Docs
Export the PNG, then insert it into the header of your document and set it behind the text. In Word that is Insert then Header, then Picture, then Wrap Text behind. Set the page margins so your text begins below the rule. The SVG is the better file if your software accepts it, because it stays crisp at any zoom.
Printed or digital
If you are printing stationery, export the PNG at 300dpi and send that. If the letterhead is only ever a PDF attached to an email, the SVG is lighter and sharper on screen. Both come from the same design, so the printed and the emailed version match.
What to put in the footer
Whatever you are legally required to show, and nothing else. In the UK a limited company must give its registered name, number and registered office on business letters. Sole traders have lighter obligations. Check your own position rather than copying what another company puts there, because their requirements may not be yours.
