About this tool
One set of facts, three vocabularies
A title has to be expressed three times: once as the document title, once as og:title for Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, and once as twitter:title. Keeping them in step by hand is tedious and is usually where they drift apart, which is how a page ends up with one headline in search results and a different one when somebody shares it.
The lengths that matter
Titles are truncated around 60 characters and descriptions around 158, though both are really measured in pixels rather than characters, so a title full of wide letters is cut sooner. The warnings here use character counts as a reasonable proxy. Being slightly over is not fatal; being 90 characters means the end of your title is never read.
The share image
It must be an absolute URL. A relative path is ignored by every platform, and the result is a share card with a blank space where the image should be. Aim for 1200 by 630 pixels, which is the ratio most platforms crop to.
Canonical and robots
A canonical tag says which URL is the real one when the same content is reachable at several. Point it at the page itself unless the page genuinely duplicates another. The robots value controls indexing, and the most common mistake is leaving a staging noindex in place after launch, which quietly keeps a whole site out of search.
