FAQs
Questions, answered properly
Everything clients ask before they hire us, answered directly. If yours is not here, just ask.
Getting started
Send an enquiry or call us. We reply within one business hour and book a free 30-minute call. On that call we dig into the business problem, then send a written proposal with fixed pricing and a delivery timeline within 48 hours. There is no obligation at any stage.
Access to your current site and analytics if they exist, a rough idea of the pages you need, and one decision-maker who can approve work. Content and images help but are not a blocker — we can write and source those as part of the project.
Both. Our Launch package exists specifically for sole traders and new businesses, and a good share of our work is with teams of under ten people. The process is the same regardless of budget — only the scope changes.
Cost and timelines
A focused brochure site starts around £1,450. Most corporate builds land between £4,000 and £12,000, and ecommerce or custom application work starts at £9,500. After the first call you get a fixed, itemised quote. We do not bill by the hour, and nothing appears later that we did not mention.
Brochure sites take four to six weeks, corporate builds eight to twelve, and ecommerce ten to sixteen. The biggest variable is how quickly content and feedback come back from your side, which is why we agree a content schedule before we start.
No. The first 30-minute call and the written proposal that follows are free. You are welcome to take that proposal elsewhere — we would rather be chosen than locked in.
Design and build
Yes. We set a performance budget at the start of every project and build to it — no bloated page builders, no unnecessary JavaScript, images served in modern formats at the right size. We check Core Web Vitals before launch rather than diagnosing them afterwards.
We build with semantic HTML, full keyboard support, visible focus states, meaningful alt text and WCAG-aware colour contrast as standard. That is better for every user and it keeps you on the right side of accessibility legislation.
Yes. We build on WordPress with clearly labelled editable areas and hand over a short walkthrough video recorded on your actual site. Changing text, swapping images and publishing posts needs no developer.
No. We design every site around your business, your content and your audience. We reuse our own component system for speed and consistency, but we make the layout, typography and visual direction for you.
SEO and AI search
The foundations are: site structure, internal linking, metadata, structured data, clean URLs, speed and mobile usability. Ongoing work — content production, digital PR and link acquisition — is a separate monthly retainer because it is continuous rather than one-off.
Generative Engine Optimisation means structuring content so AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can find, understand and quote you accurately. In practice that is clear question-and-answer content, correct Schema.org markup and unambiguous facts about your business. We build it in as standard rather than selling it as an upsell.
Technical fixes can move things within weeks. Meaningful ranking and traffic change usually takes three to six months, and competitive terms take longer. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either guessing or lying.
No, and neither can anyone else — nobody controls Google's index. What we do commit to is an agreed scope of work each month, transparent reporting against baseline metrics, and the right to end the retainer with 30 days notice if it is not working.
After launch
You do — completely. The code, the domain, the hosting account, the analytics and every third-party login are yours from day one. There is no proprietary platform and no situation where leaving us means losing your site.
Between 30 days and 6 months of support depending on your package, covering bug fixes, questions and small adjustments. After that you can continue on a Care plan or simply take the site and run it yourself.
We monitor enquiries around the clock and Care plan clients get uptime monitoring with automatic alerts. We pick up critical issues on a supported site outside office hours.
Usually yes. We start with a paid audit to establish what state the code, hosting and SEO are actually in, then tell you honestly whether it is better to improve it or rebuild. Sometimes the answer is that it is fine and you do not need us.
