What the Shipping Volumetric Weight Calculator does
Carriers charge for the space a parcel takes as well as its weight. Dimensional weight is length × width × height divided by a carrier divisor, and the chargeable weight is the greater of the dimensional and actual weights. A smaller box can cut shipping costs noticeably.
It also works as a shipping volume weight calculator or a dimensional weight calculator.
Formula
- Dimensional weight = length × width × height ÷ divisor
- Chargeable weight = the greater of dimensional and actual weight

How to read the result
If you are billed on dimensional weight, shrinking the box reduces cost even though the product weighs the same.
Carriers round dimensions and weights up in different ways, so measure the packed box at its widest points.
