About this tool

What the eBay Seller Fee Calculator does

eBay charges a final value fee as a percentage of the total sale, including shipping charged to the buyer, plus a small fixed fee per order. Promoted listings add an ad rate when they lead to a sale. This calculator totals the fees and shows what you keep.

Formula

  • Sale total = item price + shipping charged
  • Fees = sale total × final value fee rate + per-order fee + sale total × promoted rate
  • Profit = sale total − fees − item cost − your shipping cost

Worked example

Using the starting values in the calculator above:

Input Value
Sale price $50.00
Shipping charged to buyer $8.00
Final value fee rate 13.6%
Per-order fee $0.40
Promoted listing rate 2%
Item cost $20.00
Your shipping cost $7.00
Result Value
Profit $21.55
Total eBay fees $9.45
Fees as share of sale 16.3%
Payout after fees $48.55
Profit margin 37.2%

How to read the result

Because the final value fee applies to shipping charged as well, offering free shipping and raising the item price leaves the fee about the same.

Promoted listing rates only apply when the ad leads to the sale, but competitive categories may need higher rates to win placement.

Marketplace fees change and vary by category and country. Check the platform’s current fee schedule before pricing.
