What the Divorce Asset Division Calculator does
Dividing property in a divorce starts with listing marital assets and debts at current value and deciding who keeps each. Comparing each person’s net share with the target split, equal in community property states and often roughly equal elsewhere, gives the payment needed to balance it.

Formula
- Net estate = Σ assets − debts
- Target for A = net estate × A’s share
- Payment = A’s allocation − A’s target
