About this tool
What the Payroll Reconciliation Calculator does
Payroll reconciliation checks that the payroll register balances (gross pay minus withholdings and deductions equals net pay), that the bank paid out the same net pay, and that the taxes withheld plus employer taxes match what was remitted to the tax authorities.
Formula
- Register check: gross − withholdings − deductions − net pay = 0
- Bank check: net pay sent − net pay per register = 0
- Tax check: taxes remitted − (employee withholding + employer taxes) = 0

How to read the result
Reconcile every payroll run, not just at quarter-end; small differences are much easier to trace when they are fresh.
Common causes of differences are manual cheques, voided payments, and benefit deductions sent to providers on a different schedule.
