About this tool
What the Green Card Wait Time Estimator does
Family and employment green card applicants in backlogged categories wait until their priority date is earlier than the final action date in the State Department’s monthly visa bulletin. Measuring how far the final action date has moved over recent months gives a rough projection of the wait.
It also works as a green card priority date wait time estimator or a visa bulletin calculator.
Formula
- Gap = priority date − current final action date
- Months remaining ≈ gap ÷ average advance per month
Worked example
Using the starting values in the calculator above:
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Your priority date | 2022-03-15 |
| Current final action date for your category and country | 2020-11-01 |
| Average advance of the final action date | 20 days per month |
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Estimated month it becomes current | 2028-11 |
| Estimated months remaining | 25.0 |
| Days between your date and the final action date | 499 |
| Status | Waiting |
How to read the result
Visa bulletin movement is irregular: dates can stall or retrogress. Treat the projection as a rough guide and recalculate monthly.
Check whether USCIS is using the Dates for Filing or Final Action chart for adjustment of status each month.
Estimates only. Official rates and rules change; confirm figures with the relevant agency before relying on them.
