What the Art Commission Pricing Calculator does
Artists commonly price commissions by size (a rate per square inch or centimetre) and check the result against the hours involved. Complexity, rush timing and commercial usage rights add to the price, and a deposit secures the commission before work begins.
Formula
- Size price = width × height × price per square inch
- Time minimum = hours × hourly rate
- Price = higher of the two × (1 + complexity) × (1 + commercial rights) + materials
