- Nothing uploaded
The tool
Pick a platform, enter your budget and campaign length, then adjust the assumptions to match your own account.
Everything you enter stays on your own machine. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else, which you can confirm in your browser network tab.
What people use it for
- Checking whether a budget can produce enough conversions to learn from
- Comparing what the same spend might buy on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and X

- Working out the cost per acquisition you can afford from order value and margin
- Explaining the click-to-sale funnel to a stakeholder in plain numbers
About this tool
What an ad performance calculator does
An ad performance calculator turns a budget into a forecast. It multiplies three rates, cost per thousand impressions (CPM), click-through rate (CTR) and conversion rate, to estimate how many people will see, click and act on your ads, and what each result will cost. The arithmetic is simple. The value is in seeing how sensitive the outcome is to each assumption before you spend anything.
The formulas behind the estimate
| Metric | Formula |
|---|---|
| Impressions | Budget ÷ CPM × 1,000 |
| Estimated reach | Impressions ÷ frequency |
| Clicks | Impressions × CTR |
| Conversions | Clicks × conversion rate |
| Cost per click (CPC) | Budget ÷ clicks |
| Cost per acquisition (CPA) | Budget ÷ conversions |
| Return on ad spend (ROAS) | Revenue ÷ budget |
Worked example
A $3,000 budget over 30 days at a $10 CPM buys 300,000 impressions. At a 1% CTR that is 3,000 clicks, so each click costs $1.00. If 3% of those visitors convert, you get 90 conversions at about $33.33 each. With an average order value of $80, revenue is $7,200 and ROAS is 2.4x.
Where the platform presets come from
The presets are planning assumptions in US dollars, set within ranges commonly reported for each network. They are a starting point, not a promise. Real costs swing widely with country, audience size, season, bidding objective and, above all, creative quality. Replace them with figures from your own ads manager once you have a week or two of data.
| Platform | Starting CPM | CTR | Conversion rate | Typical strength |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | 1.0% | 3.0% | Broad reach and mature conversion optimisation | |
| $9 | 0.7% | 2.5% | Visual products and younger audiences | |
| TikTok | $7 | 0.9% | 1.5% | Low-cost attention through short video |
| $35 | 0.5% | 5.0% | B2B targeting by job title and company | |
| YouTube | $9 | 0.6% | 1.5% | Video consideration and remarketing |
| X (Twitter) | $6 | 0.8% | 1.0% | Conversation, news and technology audiences |
How to read the results
Look first at conversions per week. Meta describes an ad set leaving its learning phase after roughly 50 optimisation events in a week, so a budget that produces far fewer stays unstable for longer. If the calculator shows single-digit weekly conversions, raise the budget, optimise for an earlier event such as leads or add-to-cart, or consolidate ad sets.
Next compare CPA with what a customer is worth. Your break-even CPA is average order value multiplied by gross margin. If the estimated CPA sits above it, the campaign loses money on the first sale and only works if customers buy again. The customer lifetime value calculator shows how much repeat purchases change that picture, and the ROAS calculator gives you the break-even ROAS to report against.
Limits of any ad forecast
- Reach is an approximation, because each platform counts unique people differently.
- The rates are averages. A new campaign usually starts worse and improves as the delivery system learns.
- Attribution windows change the conversion count. A 7-day click window reports more conversions than a 1-day window for the same sales.
- Seasonal auctions such as Black Friday, Ramadan and the end of the year push CPMs up sharply.
Once a campaign is live, measure the actual numbers with the CPM, CPC and CTR calculator, and tag every link with the UTM link builder so analytics can attribute the sales. If you would rather have specialists plan and run the campaign, see our social media agency and PPC and Google Ads services.

Questions
Questions about this tool
The things clients actually want to know — costs, timelines, ownership and what happens after launch.
Divide the budget by CPM and multiply by 1,000 to get impressions, apply your click-through rate to get clicks, then apply your conversion rate to get conversions. Divide the budget by clicks for CPC and by conversions for CPA.
A good CPA is one below your break-even CPA, which is average order value multiplied by gross margin. A 100 dollar order at a 40% margin can afford up to 40 dollars per acquisition before the first sale loses money.
Divide the total budget by the campaign length, then check that the daily figure buys enough conversions to learn from. For Meta campaigns, aim for roughly 50 optimisation events per ad set per week.
X and TikTok usually show lower CPMs and LinkedIn the highest, but cheap impressions do not mean cheap customers. Compare cost per acquisition instead, which the platform comparison table shows for the same budget.
