Case Converter

Seven conversions, including the programming cases that are tedious to do by hand.

  • Runs in your browser
  • Nothing uploaded

The tool

Paste your text, pick a case, and copy the result.

Everything you enter stays on your own machine. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else, which you can confirm in your browser network tab.

What people use it for

  • Turning a headline into a URL-safe slug
  • Converting a spreadsheet column name into a code identifier
  • Fixing text that arrived in all capitals
  • Preparing consistent headings across a set of pages
  • Normalising imported data before processing it

About this tool

The seven conversions

Sentence case capitalises the first letter after each full stop. Title case capitalises every word. Upper and lower do what you expect. Kebab, snake and camel are the programming conventions, useful for turning a heading into a file name, a database column or a JavaScript variable.

A note on title case

Real title case leaves short words such as “of” and “the” in lower case unless they start the title. Automating that properly requires a word list and still gets edge cases wrong, so this tool capitalises every word and leaves the judgement to you. It is faster to lower-case two words than to hunt for the ones a clever algorithm got wrong.

Which case for which job

Kebab case for URLs and CSS class names. Snake case for database columns and many configuration formats. Camel case for JavaScript variables and object keys. Title and sentence case are editorial decisions rather than technical ones, and your house style should settle them.

The programming cases strip accents and punctuation, because identifiers generally cannot contain them. If you need to preserve an accent, use one of the editorial cases instead.

The things clients actually want to know — costs, timelines, ownership and what happens after launch.

Because the alternative needs a word list and still gets edge cases wrong. Capitalising everything is predictable, and correcting two words is quicker than finding the mistakes.

Yes for the case changes. The programming cases strip accents, because identifiers generally cannot contain them.

No. Your browser does the conversion.

Up to a generous size limit, yes. Past that, split it into sections.
