About this tool

What the Table Turn Rate Calculator does

Table turn rate is the number of parties seated per table during a service. Combined with average spend it determines revenue capacity. Revenue per available seat hour (RevPASH) measures how well a restaurant uses its seats over time.

Formula

  • Turns = parties ÷ tables
  • Covers = parties × average party size
  • RevPASH = revenue ÷ (seats × hours)

Worked example

Using the starting values in the calculator above:

Input Value
Parties served 96
Tables 24
Seats 80
Service length 4 hours
Average party size 2.6
Average spend per cover $38.00
Result Value
Table turns 4.00
Revenue per available seat hour $29.64
Covers 250
Revenue $9,485
Average time per turn 60 min
Seats used per turn 78.0%

How to read the result

Seats used per turn shows how well party sizes match table sizes; two people at a four-top wastes half the table.

Faster turns help only if they do not cut spend or guest experience.
