Keyword Density Checker

Useful for spotting what a page is actually about, and for catching accidental repetition.

  • Runs in your browser
  • Nothing uploaded

The tool

Paste your content to see its twenty most frequent terms.

Everything you enter stays on your own machine. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else, which you can confirm in your browser network tab.

What people use it for

  • Checking whether a page clearly covers its intended topic
  • Spotting a phrase you have repeated too often without noticing
  • Comparing your coverage against a competing page
  • Auditing older content before a rewrite
  • Checking that a rewrite actually changed the emphasis

About this tool

What density does and does not tell you

Density shows which words a page leans on. That is genuinely useful for spotting a page that repeats a phrase awkwardly, or one that never quite says the thing it is meant to be about.

It is not a target to hit. Writing to a density figure produces the repetitive prose that search engines have spent years learning to discount. Treat a high number as a prompt to read the sentence aloud, not as a score.

How the count works

The count ignores common function words and anything under three characters, because their frequency says nothing about the topic. The percentage runs against the full word count including the ignored terms, which is how the figure is conventionally reported.

Reading the output

The list shows the twenty most frequent terms with their count and share. A page about one subject usually shows that subject at the top, with related terms beneath it. A page whose top terms stay generic has usually not committed to a topic.

A single term far ahead of everything else is worth reading aloud. Repetition that looks fine on screen frequently sounds laboured when spoken.

Questions

Questions about this tool

The things clients actually want to know — costs, timelines, ownership and what happens after launch.

There is no good figure to aim for. Writing to a target produces repetitive prose. Use this to spot problems rather than to hit a number.

It ignores common function words and anything under three characters, since their frequency says nothing about the subject.

Not in itself, and overdoing it can hurt. Covering the topic thoroughly matters far more than repetition.

No. Your browser runs the analysis.
