About this tool
Working days, counted rather than estimated
The quick method is to divide the total by seven and multiply by five. It is wrong by up to two days depending on which day of the week the range starts and ends on, which is exactly the kind of error that matters when you are counting a notice period or a delivery window. This walks the range one day at a time, so the answer is exact.
Public holidays are not included
Only weekends are excluded. Public holidays vary by country and by region within a country, and a tool that guessed would be wrong somewhere. If you are counting a contractual period, check the holidays that apply to the jurisdiction in the contract.
Inclusive or exclusive
This counts from the start date up to but not including the end date, which is the usual convention for durations. If your contract counts both endpoints, add one. Being clear about which convention applies is worth more than the arithmetic itself, because that is where most disputes about dates come from.
