Business Card Maker

Eighty-five by fifty-five millimetres, three millimetre bleed, five millimetre safe area, exported at the resolution print actually needs.

  • Runs in your browser
  • Nothing uploaded

The tool

Front and back, at real print dimensions. The red line is the trim and the blue line is the safe area; neither appears in the file you download.

Everything you enter stays on your own machine. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else, which you can confirm in your browser network tab.

What people use it for

  • Producing a print-ready card the same day for a new business
  • Getting the bleed and safe area right without opening design software
  • Making cards for a team from one consistent brand
  • Testing two layouts before paying for a print run
  • Replacing a card after a phone number or role changes

About this tool

Bleed, trim and safe area

Three terms that decide whether a card comes back right. Bleed is the extra three millimetres of artwork past the edge, there because guillotines drift by a fraction and without it you get a white sliver along one side. Trim is where the blade is meant to fall. The safe area is five millimetres inside that, where text belongs, because the same drift that causes white slivers also eats type sitting too close to the edge.

This tool draws all three while you design and removes them from the export, which is what a printer expects to receive.

Why 300dpi matters

Screens are about 72 to 96 pixels per inch. Print needs roughly 300. A card exported at screen resolution is four times too coarse and arrives visibly soft, which is the single most common reason a home-made card looks home-made. The export here is built at print size from the start rather than enlarged afterwards, which does not work: enlarging cannot invent detail that was never captured.

What this cannot do

It exports RGB, and commercial presses print CMYK. Most online printers convert for you and the shift is usually small, but a very saturated orange or blue can come back duller than it looked on screen. If exact colour matters, ask your printer for a proof before committing to a long run.

Keep the back simple

The temptation is to fill it. Resist. A card is handed over in a few seconds and read later in a pocket. Name, role, one phone number, one email address and one web address is plenty, and white space is what makes the card feel considered rather than crowded.

Questions about this tool

The things clients actually want to know — costs, timelines, ownership and what happens after launch.

85 by 55 mm, the standard UK and European size, plus 3 mm bleed on every edge. The exported file is therefore 91 by 61 mm.

Yes for most online printers, which want a 300dpi file with bleed, which is exactly what this exports. Check whether yours wants PDF; if so, print the PNG to PDF at 100 percent scale.

That is the trim, where the blade falls. The blue line is the safe area for text. Neither is in the downloaded file.

No. Browsers work in RGB. Most printers convert it for you, and the shift is usually small, but ask for a proof if exact colour matters.

Yes. Upload an SVG or PNG and it is read by your browser, not uploaded to us.
