About this tool
What the Group Fitness Class Pricing Calculator does
A group class costs the instructor fee, the space and any equipment or software, regardless of how many people attend. Price per attendee therefore depends on expected attendance. This calculator sets a drop-in price for a target margin and shows the attendance needed to break even.
Formula
- Cost per class = instructor + space
- Price = cost ÷ expected attendance ÷ (1 − margin)
- Break-even attendance = cost ÷ price
Worked example
Using the starting values in the calculator above:
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Instructor fee per class | $45.00 |
| Space and overhead per class | $30.00 |
| Class capacity | 16 |
| Expected attendance | 11 |
| Target margin | 35% |
| Class pack size | 10 |
| Class pack discount | 15% |
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Drop-in price | $10.49 |
| Break-even attendance at that price | 8 |
| Class pack price | $89.16 |
| Profit from a full class | $92.83 |
| Cost per class | $75.00 |
How to read the result
Set prices from realistic average attendance, not capacity; full classes are a bonus.
Memberships and class packs smooth attendance and improve forecasting.
