International SEO
hreflang Tags Tester
Check whether your language and regional URL annotations form a consistent hreflang cluster.
- Fetched live by our server
- Nothing stored
The tool
Paste HTML or an XML sitemap, or fetch a public URL to inspect its response.
Loading the tool…
The URL you enter is sent to our server, which requests that page from the public internet and returns the response to your browser for analysis. We do not store the URL or the response, and we do not add either to analytics. Requests come from our server, not from your device or from the crawlers being simulated, so a site that blocks data-centre addresses or verifies crawlers by IP may answer differently.
What this tool checks
- Language and region syntax
- Absolute HTTP/HTTPS destinations and duplicate annotations
- Self-reference and x-default presence
- Reciprocal links among URLs you provide or fetch
How to read the results
- Paste a page URL, HTML, or sitemap XML.
- For reciprocal checks, add each alternate page URL on a new line.
- Review warnings and export the results as CSV.
About this tool
What hreflang does
Hreflang annotations identify language and regional alternatives for pages that serve substantially equivalent content. Each alternate should list the complete set, including itself, and the URLs should be canonical, indexable pages.
How to read results
This checker parses HTML links, sitemap alternate links, or pasted HTTP Link headers. It checks syntax and cluster reciprocity only for the pages you provide. It cannot confirm what a search engine has selected for a particular user.
Recommended verification
Use absolute HTTPS URLs, valid BCP 47 language-region values such as en-GB, and a consistent self-referencing canonical on every page. Recheck after publishing the reciprocal annotations.
Limits and honest caveats
- Reciprocal checks cover only the URLs supplied and reachable from this server.
- A valid language tag does not prove that a page is translated or suitable for that audience.
- The parser supports HTML link elements and sitemap xhtml:link entries; HTTP Link headers can be pasted as text.
What people use it for
- Review language clusters before launch
- Find duplicate or malformed alternate links
- Check that submitted pages link back to one another
Questions

The things clients actually want to know — costs, timelines, ownership and what happens after launch.
No. It checks the annotations you provide. Search engines make their own selection.
